Branding The Hey! Hey! Club was a special experience for me. This bar, opened 2019 within the J. Rieger & Co. distillery, holds a legacy going back to the golden age of jazz in Kansas City. Hearkening back to the 1930's when it was originally called the 'Hey Hay Club', the bar was located at 4th and Cherry and played host to jazz greats the likes of Count Basie, Lester Young, and countless others. In order to play tribute to the musical high energy past, I sought to infuse the core of the brand with a staccato visual punch by way of lively type usage, literal visual nods to written music, and layouts referencing classic jazz album cover art.
